Big Changes for Sprout Soup

Posted by Sprout Soup on

We’re Expecting!

No, not the store, but the family who runs the store. We will welcome our third child sometime this fall. Of course he or she will be sporting cloth diapers and will travel in stylish baby carriers. ?

With this surprise new addition to our family we need to make some changes to Sprout Soup.

Extreme Downsizing

As a mom, I know I want to savor the newborn and infant phase of this baby’s life. I was privileged to stay home with our older boys, we opened our storefront when they were preschoolers.

We sometimes referred to the store as our third baby, the spacing was about right and it certainly took at least the same amount of time as an infant would, if not more! The problem is, however, that as the store grew out of infancy, it doesn’t really mature in the same way as a child.

We still need to devote a whole lot of time to it, and in some cases growth means more work and more time! So in order to reclaim life as a mom, extreme downsizing of the business is necessary.

No! Not My Cloth Diapers!

Our passion has and always will be for cloth diapers and baby carriers. These make up
the bulk of our business as it is and we are not letting those go. But we will be clearing out all the extras. Toys, feeding supplies, diaper bags, clothing and baby gifts will go so we can focus on our
roots and our passion.

We will still be your local source for diapers, detergent, diaper accessories and our full line of baby carriers.

Changing the Way We Work

Part of working less required a move away from the retail setup of our store. We will be relocating from our store in Clintonville to an office space adjacent to the CHOICE Midwives at 5721 N High Street in Worthington.

Because staffing so we can be open 40 hours a week is difficult and tough on our family, we will be moving to an appointment-based system so we can give you undivided attention when you need it.

For those of you who are regulars and just need to pick up a few items here and there, we will have incentives (DiScOuNtS!!) for ordering online and picking up during regular pick-up hours each week.

What About Swap???

Our Sprout Swap event is something our community of customers really enjoyed and we didn’t want to see it come to an end as much as you don’t want it to end!

Without a large enough location to accommodate the event we will need to be creative and reorganize how the Swap will work. We still intend to hold a Sprout Swap in September. The location and details are still being worked out, but we should be ready for registration in
August.

Transition Timeline

For the next four weeks we will be working feverishly to downsize and prepare for our move. We will have almost everything on sale, giving you awesome deals to help us move things out! These sales will be growing every week and will not be appearing online, but watch the Sprout Soup Facebook Page for teasers of what has been discounted.

We are also offering a special VIP cash out for those who have a VIP card, even if it only has one space filled. From Wednesday, June 19 through Sunday, June 23 you can use 10% of any purchases recorded on your VIP Card as store credit. This credit is good in any new item in the store, even if it’s on sale. It cannot be used against previous purchases, special orders or discounted samples.

We will be keeping our VIP program, so if you can’t make it in to shop this week, you can continue to accumulate VIP Rewards as usual.

Discounts on our discontinued products will range from 20-40% for the remainder of June.

Discounts in July will be up to 60% off remaining select products.

Our final day of regular store hours will be July 14. After that date we will start taking appointments as we make our transition to our office space.

Thanks for your support over the last five years! We look forward to what this new chapter will bring for all of us!

Noah and Alissa DeRouchie
