Product: Peek-a-Blocks – Press & Go Train
Sets Reviewed: Press & Go Train
Manufacturer Recommended Age: 6 months – 3 years
Batteries: 3 AA batteries required
Let me start out by saying that I really like Peek-a-Blocks. The clear plastic blocks with fun items inside are sure to capture your child’s attention. Like most blocks these are great for teaching hand eye coordination as they learn to stack them up.
Unfortunately this toy is a perfect example of what I was talking about in my article on Active vs. Passive toys. Fisher Price took a good product (Peek-a-Blocks) and decided that it needed batteries. Very few of the peek-a-block packages you can purchase are battery-free toys. Some of the packages are able to be used without batteries but unfortunately the Press & Go Train is not one of them.
Another problem I do have about the Press & Go Train is that it does not run on carpet. My son is forced to take the train into the kitchen if he wants to see it move because on carpet the train pretty much treads water
